Hey! Please Don't Do That For Your Corporate Headshot

We discussed about how to define a professional corporate headshot from last article. Let's talk about what you should not do for your corporate headshot today.
Here are the things that you should avoid for your professional corporate headshots:
• Was taken with an iPhone
Some people will hold an iPhone with them while shooting the headshot. Actually, as a professional photographer, I would never recommend taking an iPhone with you for corporate headshots. It doesn't look professional. Instead, I will ask you to be relaxed and show your smile and confidence. That's totally better for a professional look.
• Is a snapshot taken of you on vacation that you cropped around your head
Casual photos cannot be used as a corporate headshot!
Again, a corporate headshot can have deep psychographical impacts for you and your business. Your headshot should match your style and personality. You have to make sure that your photo looks formal and clear. Don't try to crop your head from a vacation style's photo.
• Looks like you prepared for a glamour shot with too much makeup and over-styled hair.
Wearing too much makeup or over-styled hair doesn't help for having a professional corporate headshot. People might feel distracted by your makeup. Also, it might cause some negative first impression like: unprofessional, crown and beauty contest candidate. Therefore, I would recommend that you have a natural look for your makeup. Don't over decorate yourself.
• Is not taken by a professional photographer and doesn't show that you are serious about your career.
According to the article "First Impressions," from Psychological Science shows thatpeople only need 1/10 second to form a first impression of a person from their appearance, and the longer exposures won't have any significant changes for those impressions. Many people will see your headshot before meeting you in person. Therefore, how you present yourself from the corporate headshot is really important. In order to get the best result, collaborating with a professional photographer is a better choice. A professional photographer will guide you and bring out the best of you. Treat your corporate headshot seriously.
